Kendal Town Hall
The £700k refurbishment of Kendal Town Hall, as part of a £4.5m upgrade, required a sensitive approach to balance modernisation with heritage preservation.
The South Lakeland District Council’s Customer Connect Programme called for an upgrade to the historic Grade II listed building to create more accessible, efficient spaces for public and council use.
By focusing on integrating systems that respected the building’s architectural integrity while addressing the council’s operational requirements, the project aimed to enhance functionality without compromising the historic value of the space.

Implementation
The electrical installation included architectural lighting, fire alarm coverage, CCTV, door access controls, and a disabled alarm system, all designed to blend seamlessly with the heritage infrastructure.
On the mechanical side, advanced HVAC systems and domestic hot and cold water services were installed to provide energy-efficient and comfortable facilities for council staff, visitors, and community groups.
